step inside a giant heart For the mega love of your health
BY NICOLE DELAWDER • ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED 2/8/17
The heart is the biggest organ in the human body and this weekend, humans can go inside the heart to see how it works – literally. As part of American Heart Month, Health Quest will bring its MEGA Heart interactive exhibit to the Poughkeepsie Galleria from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 19.
“Our heart is a fascinating organ. We can feel it pumping away, but most don’t really comprehend what the heart does,” said Dr. Daniel O’Dea, vice president of cardiovascular services at Health Quest. “The MEGA heart offers an up-close, exciting window inside the body, so we can learn how to best take care of ourselves.”
While the average human heart weighs around 11 ounces and is a little larger than your first, the world’s only interactive heart exhibit will stretch 26 feet long, 13 feet tall and 15 feet wide in the mall’s center court. Visitors will enter the heart through the largest vein and will fittingly exit through the aorta, the largest artery that leaves the heart. In addition to learning how the heart works, guests can enjoy complimentary chair massages, take a beginner CPR class, have medications reviewed by a pharmacist, take a heart health quiz and jump rope for prizes.
There is no cost or reservations needed for the MEGA Heart event. For more information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 800-421-1220.
