To the editor:
I would like to draw attention to the desire for investment in Hyde Park and the negativity the investors are welcomed with from outspoken community members in a public forum. Support for the project was nowhere to be found. There is an opportunity when a local investor has a vision to repurpose and revitalize an abandoned plaza and willingness to forgo the risk to improve the community. Support for this project and for the developers future investment needs to be heard, because the negativity should not overshadow the positive aspects of this redevelopment as a whole. I don’t want them to be greeted this way, have the wrong impression of Hyde Park, and retreat with the impression that there isn’t support for this or future investment. Just as those that came and spoke out against the project we need to hear from supporters. Thus far 450+ signatures have been received. I haven’t counted how many of those are Hyde Park residents or businesses yet, but if anything this shows the willingness of people to want to see something happen. .
